National novel writing month.
I tried it last year but only got to 20,000 words before school had to intervene. However... Im not in school anymore! So I might try it again this year. Anyone else thinking of trying it?

Oh god no. But if your is interesting and I've finished perdido maybe I will give it a read.

That sounds like a task I would be delighted to take. But sadly, everything I write turns to fanfiction and OC inserts.

I've always kind of wanted to do this except that I've never written anything before so ¯\(°_O)/¯

Re: National novel writing month.
It's a decent way to start writing, actually. The whole point is quantity, not quality, with the idea that you can edit it down after the month is over if it really sucks. I encourage you to at least try. One of my internet friends broke it down...
The point is to write about 1,500 words a day (honestly, this should be relatively easy for college students, it's more the EVERY DAY thing that's hard). If you give up after a week, you'll still have over 10,000 words. If half of that is bullshit that needs to be deleted, you've still written a very respectable 5,000 words.
I encourage everyone to at least TRY it. Making an account on the website actually does help, it tracks your progress with a cool graph and there's like... forums, too, if you're interested (which I'm not but whatever).

^I forgot my login info from last year so made a new profile, it's up there if any of you want to add me.
